Fire and Ice Massage

A fire and ice massage consists of massage by hands, along with both hot and cold stones. The hot stones are warmed by hot water and the cold are kept in the freezer, then taken out and submerged into ice water for the treatment. Like a hot stone massage, the client is started face down with 4-5 large hot stones on their back. The therapist then massages the back of legs, back of arms, back/hip area, the neck, front of arms and front of legs by temporarily changing between the hands, hot and cold stones.

At first the exchange between the hot and cold can feel a little strange, but it will become relaxing once the client gets use to it. The cold stones make the blood vessels constrict, stimulating the nervous system and drawing out blood and toxins, while the warmth expands the blood vessels and flushes the toxins away. It also raises your pulse, causing it to be a cardiovascular workout. Some people are a little sore the next day. It is important to be hydrated before and after this treatment.
